This is from their myspace page.
we started out with the name jed (as in jed mescon, local newcaster/maniac.) that was just tony, daniel, grady, and kevin. soon after, we met up with chrissie, who had only recently moved to town. we decided on a different name and started playing a few shows. eventually buddha joined as a second guitar player, and thus became the only member of the band of legal drinking age. we recorded a rehearsal tape in the church where we practiced (because kevins dad preached there) and one of those songs ended up on the second region rock comp tape that our pal greg put out. eventually, though, we made our way to the studio that sam williams was running out of his house in north chattanooga. thats where we recorded what turned out to be the only songs we would ever have on tape. we made a billion copies and a billion stickers and stencilled a billion shirts and went on two seperate tours of the southeast. many adventures ensued and im sure each of us could tell you plenty of stories just from those two trips alone. in the end, though, it didnt last. i guess nothing does. some of us moved on to better things, and so we decided to let the old horse lie there unkicked. afterward, though, our friend brian parrish put out a 7" with six of the eight songs we recorded. it should also be noted that along the line, we had two other guitar players, eric nelson and joey smith. also our friends dany and kim busted their asses to put out a split cd between us and darvis brown and smokeasses. that project never really came to fruition, but it was still an awesome idea. dany even has a tattoo of one of our stencils on his arm. people that were in this band are now in other bands and used to be in even more bands. fuck yeah.

i sang in this band. im kinda amazed to see this washed up on the shores of the ol internets. i dont even have a copy.
ReplyDeletei wrote that thing on our myspace, which is why it sucks. heres some of what we're doing now:
-i currently sing in gravebound and do noise stuff in secret guilt. i do a "label" called failed recordings.
-chrissie... i dont really even know where she is these days. last i heard she wa sin richmond and had gotten married. after bris, she played bass in a band up there called are you fucking serious?
-buddha is playing guitar in the hidden spots, who are great.
-daniel is still playing guitar and singing in add/c, as well as the fixins. he also plays drums in true stereo.
-grady still plays bass in add/c and recently started playing guitar in the fixins.
-kevin hasnt really done much musically. he is currently living in nc, is about to move to the west coast for a few months, and plans on moving back to chattanooga at the end of the year.
weve been talking about playing next years do ya hear we fest. hopefully that will happen.
thanks for sharing our powerful, deeply moving art. cheers.
Hey,
ReplyDeleteThis is Brian who put out the Bris 7". I'm glad this is being kept cataloged in the digital age. If you want the record I still have some out of the 400 that were pressed. E-mail me at poopcore@yahoo.com
Bris were a very inspiring band for me. If you asked them to play, they would drive 2 1/2 hours to an unknown town for little or no money. Happy to play to just a handful of people. They were just that type of folks.
I put the 7" out with gift money from my high school graduation. A year later, The record was pressed at United in Nashville. I remember going on a tour of the United record pressing facility, and I remember seeing a Profane Existence record being pressed there before my eyes. All the goo that they scrap and collect off the records to make other cheaper records was very impressive. Somewhat of a "cradle to the grave" type of image is still stuck in my head.
Thanks to everyone involved in this 7".
